Just got sky broadband and the wireless router (Netgear) has a poor signal. How can I improve the signal? - 20 metres netgear router dg934g sky broadband 2009

We live in a new house, so that the walls not very thick. The router is only 20 meters and the signal is 1-2 and sometimes completely cut off. Is there a way to improve the signal or do I buy a better router, if so, how?

Routers use the same signal, so that another router is not the answer. You need a wireless repeater, which may at any location, you can receive the signal, and I remember the original population. Google search for "wireless repeater" and you will find different models.

Instead of buying a new router, try a high-gain antenna to the router (Netgear antenna are standard) screw, and you have a PCI card in your PC you can try to the antenna. Make sure that everything works better.

The worst scenario is that 2 high-gain antenna to buy two ends of the signal.

Some things you can try the following:

Move the router to the top of the house (preferably in the attic), if possible.

When you access your routers settings and select a different channel for your wireless network.

Stay away from cordless phones and microwave because it causes disruption.

You should not buy another router because they are almost all identical, which could be of more benefit to a wireless repeater for sale (Google or eBay) a place somewhere in your house, to repeat the signal.

Hope this helps.

Make sure the filter is connected to telephone lines and the router is not surrounded by metallic objects or mobile phones
